Being a Second Photographer

As a second photographer for Julie Harris, occasionally she will be off photographing the bride and groom while I am left covering the cocktail hour or guests milling about until the ceremony starts. It is pretty standard for a second photographer to have to shoot details, and photograph the wedding guests. When I first started working with Julie I noticed that she would see an interesting looking person and get right in there face and make this great looking portrait. This season I challenged myself to do the same, walk right up to someone who has a unique look and make their portrait, for the most part the subject is a parent or grandparent, I look for wrinkles, or eye color, something that makes the person stand out.
