Sailing the Seas of Denver
We had another party at the Ware-home this weekend. The theme for the party was Yacht Club. Appropriate for land locked Colorado in December. None the less good times were had by all. Here are a few photos from the photo booth…

Fuji-Roid
I started this project a couple months ago. I started taking urban landscape photos of the “neighborhood” that I live in. My original camera was a Polaroid 600. Polaroid is hard to find these days and if you do find it comes out to over $20 for a package of 10 photos! That is over two dollars per picture. I am not that consistent. Fuji has picked up where Polaroid left off making a instant film that is like the Polaroid we are familiar with, except rather than it being a square format it is a “wide format” or more of a panoramic look. Where I live is one of the last industrial areas that has not been completely made over by trendy lofts, and fancy boutiques. No, where I live there are houses co-mingled with junk yards, car repair garages, rail yards, and major companies like Pepsi, and Con-Agra share the same streets that me and my dog walk.

Canon EF 70-200 f/2.8 L IS USM $1,500 (SOLD)
Canon EF 16-35mm f/2.8 L USM $800
I have had the Mark III for just over two years. The screen on the back has some scratches on it. There is paint wear near the shutter release and near the play button. Both lenses focus and zoom are smooth. Please email me at prestonutley@yahoo.com with any questions.

Gilman, Colorado
Gilman
This is a project I have been working on since May of this year and will continue working in until it is finished. Ever since I moved to the mountains I have wanted to photograph in this once bustling town filled with general stores, a doctors office, even a bowling alley. The town was suddenly shut down from years of digging, blasting and mining into the mountain. Zinc and lead contaminated the near by Eagle River. If you ever travel around the west much you know there are towns like Gilman spread all over the American landscape. People settling to take advantage of the nearby resources and just as soon as they arrive they leave. They leave nothing but a few relics of a forgotten time.
I photograph at Gilman for peace, for tranquility. It is a place where I can be alone with just my thoughts. Paranoia creeps in as I hear the new residences of the properties I photograph scurry across the floor. The wind blows doors open and shut. I take a deep breath. I find light, I find color, I find composition, most of all I find solitude.
